Our work for The Train Factory has been featured in Brand New, one of the world’s best-known platforms for reviewing brand identity and redesign work.
The Train Factory is a former industrial landmark in Helsinki’s Vallila district, once home to much of Finland’s locomotive manufacturing. Today, the site is being transformed into a new destination for food, sports and culture.
Our task was to create a brand identity that respects that industrial history without turning it into nostalgia.
Brand New editor Armin Vit described the work as:
“A bold and energetic identity that marries the blue-collar past of its building with the white-collar modern-day offerings and amenities of the destination.”
He also made an observation about Finnish design that we are not going to argue with:
“…you have to remember these are the Finnish we are talking about and they can design as if their saunas depended on it.”
